Feb 3-3rd Day

Today, my cottage along with Jake & Collin walked into Lennox Head through the center- about a 15 min walk. We looked around in the shops, had lunch at a place called Quattro and had pizza. We tried the oils that they gave us on our pizza and it was delicious! After lunch we continued to walk through shops, bough post cards & misc things and got ice cream from a local shop having Golden Rough & Sticky Date flavors!! Again, it was delicious!!! We took the beach back to campus, playing in the sand & walking through the water. Collin got his first jelly fish sting on both ankles. Had a great afternoon with the group!! Now heading to the beach again with everyone & then the surfing meeting. Will update more later!

More Pictures!

Day 2- Feb 2nd

Today I woke up around 9. It was a pretty laid back day. our house of girls slowly got up soon after. We had a breakfast of toast and jams that the campus gave us. Soon after we went down to the beach for a while and then went to the grocery and Fishing store (to buy fishing licenses) at 1. The grocery is called Coles, and our cottage bought a variety of foods that we will all eat and individually eat. The options seem much healthier than at home but also a little more expensive. The bus that brought us was stuffed if you can only imagine 30 students buying food for their cottages. Every Monday we will go to the store, but we all seemed to buy a ton! When we got back we unloaded and went down to the beach again. Some of the guys were fishing out of the ocean, they didn't seem to catch much but were having fun. At 6 we went to our Orientation and were talked to by the director of the center, a surfing center and a diving center. We have a ton of opportunities to learn how to surf, scuba or dive! After orientation we helped our BSU director get surf boards, boogie boards, bikes and a variety of things for us to use. Pretty relaxing day and seem to have another relaxing day tomorrow. We'll see what happens! Hope all is going well in Fort Wayne.

Finally Here!

After a long time traveling we finally made it to Australia! It feels unreal! It has been quite an adventure so far. In Indy, Jake's ticket somehow got "un-chcecked" and he was going to be placed on another flight later but a passenger volunteered to get off for him. This saved for a lot of chaos later! On the first 3 flights I sat with BSU study abroad program students, getting to know them. The whole group was a bit awkward at first but has now quickly warmed up to one another. On the 14 hour flight from LA to New Zealand I was worried about sleeping but had no problems. One of my carry ons was taken to be checked due to lack of storage, so I lost my sleeping pill if I were to have a problem. I ended up watching The Social Network on the mini screen in front of me that also held a variety of TV shows, movies, and music. Had a great dinner of Beef, zucchini, potatoes, a roll and juice. I slept for 8-10 hours and woke for a early breakfast. The rest of travel went fairly well with only minor issues among the group. Once arriving in Brisbane our BSU director picked us up in a charter bus. After one of the girls vomited all over the bus we stopped for lunch (not that we were hungry after that). We decided to try Australia McDonalds to see how different than USA. It tastes pretty much the same, the chicken nuggets taste much better and healthier. We arrived in Lennox Head/ BSU campus around 4/4:15.A After dropping our things in the cabins we quickly changed into our suits and walked out to our beach. We played in the waves then took a talk with our director down to the end where the waves are less rouge and rough. The director told us the other day there were sting rays swimming in this area. We didn't see any this time, but maybe the next. After our hour beach walk we threw cover ups on and went to dinner provided and grilled by the center director. We were made barbeque chicken, beef and sausage with onions, watermelon, pineapple, beats, bread and juice. it was delicious. After dinner we began unpacking and getting settled in. A few students wanted to go to the bar and get a drink but a few decided that we were tired enough to stay, get completely unpacked, shower and go to bed early.

Tomorrow we are going to the grocery and having our orientation.
